PM Modi
launches over 97,500 mobile 4G towers built with indigenous technology
¨ Over 97,500 new 4G mobile towers across
India, including 92,600 towers equipped with fully indigenous technology, were
launched by PM Modi as part of a major push to expand digital infrastructure.
¨ The towers were installed at an estimated
cost of ₹37,000 crore by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited.
¨ Internet connectivity is expected to reach
30,000 additional villages through this rollout.
¨ He remarked that India had lagged behind in
adopting 2G, 3G, and 4G technologies earlier.
¨ The Prime Minister said that BSNL’s new 4G
network placed India among countries capable of building their own telecom
systems.
¨ More than 18,900 towers funded under the
Digital India Fund will connect 26,700 underserved villages, many of which are
in remote and border areas.
¨ These solar-powered towers form the largest
cluster of green telecommunications sites in India.
¨
These
towers are spread across Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra,
Rajasthan, Assam, Gujarat and Bihar.
