- Japan and US have signed an agreement to develop interceptors for hypersonic missiles.
- Both nations are planning to develop interceptors by the 2030s under the agreement.
- The plan will cost more than $3 billion. It was for the first time announced in August.
- The interceptor is being called as Glide Phase Interceptor (GPI).
- In the 2024 budget, the Japanese government has included $480 million for the development of interceptors.
