India's weightlifter Mirabai Chanu won the silver medal in the women’s
48kg category at the World Championships in Førde, Norway.
¨ She lifted a total of 199kg. This included
84kg in the snatch and 115kg in the clean and jerk.
¨ With this, she secured second place overall.
¨ This was first World Championship of Chanu
since 2022.
¨ It was also her second competition after the
Paris 2024 Olympics.
¨ At the Olympics, she finished in fourth
place.

Ri Song-gum from South Korea won the gold medal. Ri Song-gum is the
defending world champion. She lifted a total of 213kg to win the event.
