¨ India
has launched its first cooperative-run project for Compressed Bio-Gas and
potash granule production.
¨
The project is based in Kopargaon, in
Maharashtra’s Ahilyanagar district.
¨
It is located at the Sahakar Maharshi
Shankarrao Kolhe Cooperative Sugar Factory.
¨
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit
Shah inaugurated the facility.
¨
He praised the factory for implementing a
circular economy model.
¨
The factory produces and markets both CNG
and potash from its operations.
¨
Shah announced plans to set up similar
projects in 15 cooperative sugar factories across India.
¨
He said Maharashtra will play a leading
role in this expansion.
¨
He also emphasized the need to diversify
ethanol production methods.
¨
Producing ethanol from fruit juice was
suggested as a profitable alternative.
¨
These measures aim to increase revenue and
promote sustainability in the sugar industry.
¨
The factory’s green initiatives are
helping to strengthen the rural economy.
¨
The Sanjeevani Group is also working to
support primary credit societies and women’s self-help groups.
¨
The central government is providing
financial assistance through the National Cooperative Development Corporation
(NCDC).
¨
Fifteen cooperative sugar factories have
received such support.
¨
A new Pulses Self-Reliance Mission has
been launched with a budget of ₹11,300 crore.
¨
This mission will be implemented over the
next six years.
¨
The government has also increased the
Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for key crops.
¨ These
include lentils, moong, mustard, gram, tur, jowar, soybean, cotton, and wheat.
