¨     The institute will achieve a new milestone by having its first mycologist at its helm.

¨     Dr. Kanad Das, a mycologist, is the first mycologist in the history of the Botanical Survey of India to be appointed as its Director.

¨     This appointment marks a significant contribution and recognition in the field of mycology at BSI.

Botanical Survey of India

¨     Establishment: BSI was established on February 13, 1890.

¨     Objective: Its main objective is to explore India's plant resources and identify plant species of economic importance.

¨     Ministry: It is a premier research organization under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India.

¨     ​​Organizational Structure: BSI has nine regional circles in different regions of the country.
