Bhojpuri folk singer Sharda Sinha has passed away. She breathed her last in AIIMS hospital in Delhi. Sharda Sinha, who was awarded Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, is no longer among us, but her memories will always remain with us.
Apart from Maithili and Bhojpuri, she sang Hindi songs. The songs sung by her in films like Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and Gangs of Wasseypur became very popular.
Sharda Sinha was a resident of Begusarai in Bihar. Begusarai was Sharda Sinha’s in-laws’ house. Her husband Brij Kishore Sinha also worked in the education department.
Sharda Sinha was born in Supaul, Bihar. She started her career by singing Maithili folk songs. Sharda Sinha was a folk singer as well as a professor at Samastipur College.
After retirement, both husband and wife were living with their son in Indirapuram, adjacent to Delhi for many years. Sharda Sinha has two children, a son and a daughter.
