National Skill Development Corporation launched Women Entrepreneurship Program. Its aim is to empower women entrepreneurs and promote economic growth. This program has been launched in partnership with Britannia Industries Limited. This program is designed to address the specific challenges that women face while starting and growing a business. Under this, financial grants will also be provided and the products and services of women entrepreneurs will be displayed on the Skill India Digital Hub.This initiative aims to tackle the challenges faced in entrepreneurship by providing critical skills, knowledge and networking opportunities to women.
This program has been launched with the launch of complimentary self-learning basic entrepreneurship courses available in multiple languages on the Skill India Digital Hub. On completion of these courses, participants will receive a certificate. Their entrepreneurial skills and competencies will be recognized through this certificate.This initiative aims to empower about 25 lakh women across India and provide them with the skills, knowledge and resources required to start and grow successful businesses. The initiative will culminate in a grand finale where the top 50 contestants will present their business ideas.Britannia Industries will provide a financial grant of Rs 10 lakh each to the 10 most successful contestants to further encourage innovation and excellence.

- It was established on July 31, 2008 as a not-for-profit public limited company under section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956.
- It functions under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
- 49% of its share capital is held by the Government of India and the remaining 51% is held by the private sector.
- It aims to promote skill development.
