International Civil Aviation Day is observed on December 7.
The day aims to help create and reinforce worldwide awareness of the importance of international civil aviation for the social and economic development of countries.
The theme of International Civil Aviation Day 2023 is “Advancing Innovation for Global Aviation Development.”
On 7 December 1944, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) was established to promote global co-operation and uniformity in civil aviation matters.
Also in 1944, both the International Air Transport Agreement and the International Service Transit Agreement were signed.
In honor of its 50th anniversary, ICAO established International Civil Aviation Day in 1994.
On 7 December 1996, International Civil Aviation Day was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly.
