Writer and scholar S.K. Vasanthan was selected for the Ezhuthachan Award for the year 2023.
Ezhuthachan Award is the top award instituted by the Government of Kerala in the field of literature.
The Culture Minister of Kerala announced the award on 1 November 2023.
Dr. Vasanthan attracted the attention of both scholars and book lovers through his works in multiple genres such as novels, short stories, essays, histories and translations.
S.K. Vasanthan’s major works like Kerala Samskara Charitra Nighandu and Nammal Nadanna Vazhikal are two major works related to the cultural history of Kerala.
Kalam Sakshi, which describes the comprehensive social reform of Kerala, is one of his major works.
Dr. Vasanthan, who hails from Thrissur, won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 2007 for Kerala Samskara Charitra Nighandu and the Academy Award for Overall Contribution in 2013.
The Ezhuthachan Award will carry a cash prize of ₹5 lakh, a citation and a plaque presented by the Chief Minister of Kerala.
