In a significant development for the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, Sanjay Kumar Jain, a 1990 batch Indian Railway Traffic Service officer, has been appointed as Chairman and Managing Director.
His appointment comes after the post became vacant following the retirement of Mahendra Pratap Mal in January 2021. His appointment was recommended by the search-cum-selection committee and later approved.
Shri Sanjay Kumar Jain is an experienced executive with an enviable track record. Before being promoted to the role of CMD, he served as Principal Chief Commercial Manager in Northern Railways.
Jain’s journey in the civil services also includes an important stint as Joint Secretary in the Department of Public Enterprises under the Government of India.
His role as Joint Secretary reflects his ability to deal with the complexities of public enterprises and policy matters.
