  • RajasthanState cabinet on Friday approved formation of 19 new districts and three divisions and demarcated respective areas for the same.
  • Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said the formal foundation of the new districts would be laid on August 7 with respective ministers in-charge of the areas.
  • Rajasthan will now have a total of 50 districts and 10 divisional headquarters, additional chief secretary (revenue) Aparna Arora said, adding that the new districts will be notified shortly.
  • The cabinet has decided to extend the tenure of the high-power committee under retired IAS officer Ram Lubhaya by six more months to consider demands for more districts, the CM said. The Ram Lubhaya committee was constituted in March 21 2022 to study the feasibility of new districts.
  • The headquarters of Jaipur, Jaipur Rural, Jodhpur and Jodhpur Rural districts will be in the respective cities, Gehlot said.
