Rules for verified radar equipment to boost traffic enforcement notified by the Centre.
On 23 January, Rules for radar equipment for measuring the speed of vehicles were notified by the government under the Legal Metrology (General) Rules, 2011, to help traffic personnel measure speed limits effectively.
These guidelines will come into effect from July 1 to help the concerned industries comply with the provisions of the rules.

A committee was constituted under the chairmanship of the director, Indian Institute of Legal Metrology (IILM), Ranchi, which submitted the preliminary draft rules.
The draft rules were presented to State Legal Metrology Departments, RRSL officials, manufacturers, and VCOs to explain their requirements.
The rules will also ensure accurate measurement of speed, distance, and other relevant parameters.
