Russia shipped a nuclear reactor vessel for the Kudankulam nuclear plant.
Russia’s Rosatom has shipped the 320-ton reactor vessel for the sixth 1,000 MW atomic power plant being built in Kudankulam in Tamil Nadu from Novorossiysk sea port.
The production cycle for making a reactor vessel is two years.
The Kudankulam plant in Tamil Nadu will have six reactors with a total installed capacity of 6,000 MW.
A set of four steam generators for the sixth unit of the Kudankulam NPP in India will be shipped in 2025.
Currently, four power units are being built at the Kudankulam site.
The first two units were connected to India’s national grid in 2013 and 2016.
Construction and installation work on the third and fourth units is nearing completion.
Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant is the largest nuclear power station in India.
