Swavalambini Mahila Udyamita Program was launched in 2025 in collaboration with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and NITI Aayog. The initiative aims to empower female students in higher education institutions (HEIs) by providing them entrepreneurship skills, resources and guidance.
Swavalambini Program: Promoting Women Entrepreneurship
- Swavalambini aims to establish a structured and phased entrepreneurship journey for young women. The program provides the necessary resources, guidance and mindset to inculcate the entrepreneurial spirit in female students of higher education institutions (HEIs).
Key Features of Swavalambini Program
Faculty Development Program (FDP)
- A five-day training is provided to teachers of HEIs.
- This training helps in promoting entrepreneurship education.
Mentorship
- Participants receive guidance from industry experts and successful entrepreneurs after creating a business plan.
It includes the following support
- Financial assistance through government schemes and private investors.
- Networking opportunities with experienced business professionals.
Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP)
- Development of business planning, leadership skills and decision-making ability.
- Financial literacy and understanding of investment strategies.
- Special focus on market research and competitive analysis.
- The Swavalamban programme provides young women with the resources and support they need to become self-reliant entrepreneurs.
