The National Panchayati Raj Awards Ceremony 2024 will be organized by the Ministry, Panchayati Raj at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. These awards honour Panchayats for their outstanding work.Objective: The main objective of these awards is to motivate Panchayats towards further excellence and also inspire other rural local bodies to work to their full potential. This results in promoting ease of living and sustainable, inclusive development in rural areas.
9 Main Award Categories: The Ministry of Panchayati Raj has divided the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into 9 major themes.

- Healthy Panchayat
- Child-friendly Panchayat
- Water conservation Panchayat
- Clean and green Panchayat
- Panchayat with self-reliant infrastructure
- Panchayat with social justice and social security
- Panchayat with good governance

Categories of Panchayati Raj Awards
- Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Panchayat Sustainable Development Award (DDUPSVP): This award is given to the top-3 Gram Panchayats or similar bodies for their outstanding performance in each of the above 9 subjects.
- Nanaji Deshmukh Sarvottam Panchayat Sustainable Development Award: This award is given to the Gram, Block and District Panchayats for their overall performance, which come on top in all the 9 award subjects.
Special Award Categories
- Gram Urja Swaraj Special Panchayat Award: This award is given to the top 3 Gram Panchayats or similar bodies for their excellence in the use of renewable energy sources.
- Carbon Neutral Special Panchayat Award: This award is also given to the top 3 Gram Panchayats or similar bodies for their performance in the use of renewable energy sources. A total of 3 awards have been given in this category this year.
- Panchayat Capacity Building Best Institution Award: This award is given to 3 institutions that have provided institutional support to Gram Panchayats in achieving LSDGs.
