- He served as Deputy Advocate General of Punjab from 1983 to 1987.
- He was Chairman of the Monitoring Authority set up by the Supreme Court to examine cases of alleged fake encounters in Gujarat.
- He worked as Additional Advocate General until 1989 before becoming Punjab’s Advocate General in 1990.
- He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on March 15, 1991.
