- Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) and Department of Posts have signed a MoU.
- Under the MoU, the employees of the Postal Department will physically verify new units being established all over India under the PMEGP.
- The KVIC will also provide training to the employees for the physical verification process.
- Postal Department’s Deputy General Manager Dr Amanpreet Singh and Deputy CEO of PMEGP Rajan Babu on behalf of KVIC signed MoU.
- Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) is a credit-linked subsidy scheme launched in 2008.
- It is implemented by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) at the national level.
- It was launched by merging two schemes- Prime Minister’s Rojgar Yojana (PMRY) and Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP).
