Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population has urged residents to wear masks due to an alarming rise in air pollution levels in the Kathmandu Valley.
According to IQAir, an organization that measures real-time pollution in 101 cities around the world, Kathmandu has been ranked the most polluted city globally.

New Delhi, Chiang Mai (Thailand), Hanoi (Vietnam), Bangkok (Thailand), and Dhaka (Bangladesh) follow in the ranking of the most polluted cities.
The ministry has advised the public to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities, refrain from traveling and stay away from highly polluted areas.
High levels of air pollutants in Kathmandu pose significant health risks.
