Nepal became the first South Asian country to register same-sex marriage.
The marriage between 36-year-old Ram Bahadur (Maya) Gurun and Surendra Pandey has been registered in Nepal.
The marriage has been registered after the Supreme Court issued an interim order for same-sex couples’ marriage.
The couple have been in a relationship for nine years and got married according to Hindu rituals in 2016
The marriage registration certificate has been issued to the couple in consideration of the Supreme Court order and instructions from relevant government authorities.
Taiwan is the only other country to legalize same-sex marriage in Asia.
