The Prime Minister announced the new name of the old Parliament House, which will be called “Samvidhan Sadan” (Constitution House).
This decision was accepted by both the Speaker of the Lok Sabha and the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
The new Parliament House has been named “Parliament House of India”.
British architects Sir Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker designed the Old Parliament House.
It was constructed between 1921 and 1927 and witnessed some of the greatest moments in Indian history such as the passage of the Constitution of India.
The old Parliament House will be preserved as an archaeological wonder of India.
